Dr. Ming-Shih Shen is the Director of the Defense and Security Program at DIMEs Center, Taiwan Think Tank.
He is also the Senior Research Fellow at the Division of National Security Research, and former acting deputy CEO of the Institute for National Defense Security Research (INDSR), Taiwan.
He graduated from the Army Military Academy in 1985, and served in the Army Infantry Units. His military education background includes Army Infantry School Advanced Class and Army Command and Staff College.
After serving as an army company commander, he went to the East Asian Graduate School of National Chengchi University, and got his master’s degree in 1995. He got his Ph.D. in Political Science in 2004 from National Defense University, Taiwan.
He was the former director of Graduate Institute of Strategic Studies, National Defense University, Taiwan. He is currently the associate Professor at GISS of National Defense University, the associate Professor at GIIASS of Tamkang University, and the Visiting Professor at India’s Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU, National Security University), where he teaches the PLA military culture.
He was the Visiting Fellow at IDSA India in 2010. Dr. Shen’s research areas include Strategic Theory, PLA Studies, India Defense and Security, Civil-Military Relations, National Security Research and Defense Organization Studies.
